The TASCAM WS-11 windscreen uses artificial fur for compatible DR-Series handheld recorders. It helps reduce the buffeting and low-frequency rumble caused by wind hitting the built-in microphones, making it a practical accessory when you record interviews, field notes, or investigation audio outdoors.

Compatibility and best use

TASCAM lists the DR-05XP and DR-07XP among the WS-11 compatible recorders. Check TASCAM’s current compatibility list before ordering if you use another model. The windscreen is most useful when air moves across the microphones; for a quiet indoor session, you may not need it.

What it can and cannot do

• Helps with: wind noise at the built-in microphones.
• Does not fix: handling noise, nearby speech, traffic, or distortion already captured in a recording.
• Does not establish paranormal activity: a cleaner recording can be easier to review, but an unexplained sound still needs ordinary sources ruled out.

Fit the cover securely without blocking controls, record a short test clip at the location, and note wind, nearby people, and other environmental sounds in your log. Compare the clip with and without the cover when possible. We have not conducted a hands-on WS-11 test; compatibility information comes from TASCAM.
