The Laser Grid Scope is a small piece of kit with a simple job: put a visible pattern in the area your camera is watching. If you want to try laser-grid observation during short sessions, its pen-shaped design is easy to fit alongside your recorder and notebook.
Green dots and an adjustable lens
GhostStop’s Scope projects green dots and has a rotating lens for changing the pattern. It uses a momentary power button. An optional slide clamp can hold that button down, but the clamp is sold separately and does not remove the cooling requirement.
Know the operating limit before you buy
GhostStop says to limit use to 10 minutes, then allow 10 minutes to cool. This matters if you are planning a long recording. Build those breaks into the session rather than leaving the pen running unattended.
The specifications list a 532 nm wavelength, a 14 × 160 mm body and two AAA batteries, which are not included. Check the current package and accessory choices on the retailer’s page before checkout.
Who is this laser pen for?
The Scope is worth considering when compact size and occasional visual observation matter more than continuous monitoring. If you would rather set up a red line grid for a longer session, compare the GS1 in our laser grids category. The GS2 is the option to examine if you also want onboard sensor readings.
Make the footage easier to judge
Keep the pen and camera steady, and record the normal scene before anyone enters it. Note when the light is switched off for cooling so those gaps do not become mysteries during playback. A passing person, a moved mount or an object in the beam can alter the pattern; the change alone does not demonstrate paranormal activity.
Use the manufacturer’s instructions and warning label. Avoid direct or reflected eye exposure. Never aim a laser at people, animals, vehicles or aircraft.
